[ VIDEO ] Birthday Card Using A Double Stencil Technique

Good morning everyone...  ooops it is almost afternoon.  Where did the time go?????

I played this morning in my craftroom.  My other half and older step son went out to Powerline Park in St Clairsville OH for their spring open.  So, they loaded up the Can Am Commander side by side and off they went for the day.  Probably the only kid appropriate event at that park.

Anyhow, Here is a card that I made this morning using a technique that I learned on Stamp Nation called double stencil technique.  The video is a little longer because I didn't do any speeding up of the video.

Mother's Day Card Waxed Paper Emboss Resist Technique

Good morning...

I wanted to share a card that I just finished this morning.  I got my inspiration from a post on Stamp Nation, which I just joined a couple days ago.

I sort of CASED Dawn Turley's Happy Birthday card.  The technique is fairly easy.  She mentioned a YouTube video from GinaK on using waxed paper for an emboss resist technique.  I loved Dawn's card so much that I had to make one too.  Here is the GinaK's YouTube Video .  I followed her instructions.

Then I stamped the sentiment of white daisy card stock and did a dove tail cut to create the banner.
I also used my Zutter Bow It All 2.0 to make the bow.

The Frugal Way to Make Your Own Cling Foam Mounting Sheets for Your Unmounted Wood Block Stamps

Quick Post This Morning.....

Here is a really great way to cut your costs in half on mounting your unmounted wood block stamps onto cling mounting sheets to use with acrylic stamping blocks, Fiskars Stamp Press or your MISTI stamping tool.  I was so excited to come across this idea because I was running out of the EZ Mount Cling Mount Sheets and they are expensive.  I did some research and found this idea of using Fun Foam and Window Cling Sheets.

Vintage Style Gift Tags and MISTI Stamping Tool

Good evening folks....  hope everyone had a good weekend.  Mother Nature has lost her mind.  It was 70 degrees on Christmas Day and snow last night and it is April.  Go figure.  But I didn't let that spoil my weekend.  I got a package yesterday.....  I received the MISTI stamping tool....  The Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented.  This gadget is AWESOME!!!!   I love it.

I have struggled with getting my sentiments straight, incomplete stamping and hard to do mass producing. This new toy of mine corrects all of that and makes layering stamped images a snap.

I will probably do a video using this neat thing.  Well, actually, most of my future card making videos I will probably be using it.

I made some gift tags last night but did not record it.  I wanted to get a feel for the tool before going on film with it.

These are the tags I made last night.  I spent hours watching YouTube videos of reviews and other stampers using it.

What I did with these cuties are first I die cut the tags using my Big Shot and Tim Holtz Tiny Tabs and Tags Big Z die.  Then I took Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Walnut Stain, with the blending tool and colored the tags.  They started out a pale yellow color.

Then came time to use my MISTI.  I used Blossoming Expressions Stamp Set.  It is a layered stamp set that has 3 kinds of flowers and a set of leaves.  These stamps you layer them.  Each flower and leaf has a background layer and a top layer to add more detail.  This is where the Misti came in handy.  I used the same color for both layers.  But the bottom layer was a second generation stamping so that it would be lighter than the top layer.  Did the same for the leaves.

The sentiment came from our I Do stamp set.  This set is geared towards weddings but the Celebrating sentiment can be used for so many other occasions.

The inks used were Sorbet, Pomegranate, and black archival ink.

Art Journal Page Featuring April Stamp of the Month

Happy Weekend Everyone!!!

I have been working on this project for 2 days.  In addition to scrapbooking and making cards, I love to play in my art journals.  It took 2 days because of all of the drying time between layers and household obligations.

Here is a pic of my page.  When I decided to do this page, I wanted to use CTMH new Stamp of the Month for April 2016.  The set is called Life in Pictures.  Instead of doing a scrapbook layout or a card, I wanted to do something different.  So I went for an art journal page.

What I did

  • I started by putting down a nice coat of Gesso to condition the page.  The journal I am using is actually just a sketch book.  With that said, the paper is not real thick to hold up to multi media art.
  • Then I put down some color using Close To My Heart's Watercolor paints.  I used some blues, purple and a green which is not real noticeable.
  • Next, I took it outside and sprayed it with an acrylic sealant to prevent the watercolors from running when I used Modge Podge.   I also sprayed my photo.
  • I used a piece of plastic canvas used in needle point work as a stencil and used Tatterd Angels Gold Glimmer mist to mist a mild pattern on the background to add texture.
  • Matted the picture and glued it down on my page.
  • I took a couple stencils (the bricks and the butterfly) and applied 3D modeling paste to get a raised look.
  • I used some Tim Holtz Distress Inks to color the bricks and touched them up with ShinHan Twin Touch Markers.  The butterfly was colored using a couple of our inks like water color painting...  Cotton Candy and Gypsy.
  • Then I stamped using our black archival ink and our Stamp of the Month Life In Pictures.
