[Video] Faux Christmas Toilet Paper TP Mini Album

Good morning and Happy New Year and Belated Merry Christmas!!!

I have been super busy over the past couple months.  The holidays kill me every year.  I first had a battle with my kitty, Bear.  He is only 3 yrs old and we almost lost him to kidney disease.  A week before Christmas, he was in renal failure.  The vet said that there really wasn't anything else that could be done.  But they were wrong.  She didn't consider the power of prayer.  I got on YouTube and Facebook and asked for prayer....  I needed a Christmas miracle.  I got it!!!  With in hours of going from ready to die that Saturday to eating, drinking, using his litter pan, grooming himself.  Now, he is back to normal.  He had lost half of his body weight and he is gaining it back again.  He plays and picks on his sister.  He had made a full recovery.

Now, for my mini album that I made.  This was made for a co-worker.  We had a secret Santa gift exchange at work.

The covers were made from heavy chipboard and I used Kathy Orta's hidden hinge binding system.  Below is a video review of the album.

Video: Facebook Live Coffee and Crafts With Jennifer

Good evening...

I started a new video series on Facebook Live.  I normally go live in the mornings around 7:45 AM Eastern time during the week. I have to admit, I do miss sometimes but I do let my viewers know.  My show is Coffee and Crafts With Jennifer.

Below is the first episode that I made.  It was a learning experience.  I had my iPad in landscape position and FB showed me on my side along with everything else.  But, I downloaded the video and pulled it in to Camtasia and fixed it for YouTube.  Then, I found in the facing camera, everything is mirrored.  By the 3rd episode, I got that worked out too....  I use the normal camera for viewing my work space.

Artiste -  mostly 3D items like flowers, boxes, purses, envelopes. But does have a few elements that can be used on cards or on your layouts.  Has a couple cards too.
Artfully Sent - a must have for cardmakers.  This has cards for every occasion.  Loads of embellishments too that can also be used in scrapbook layouts, project life, art journaling and more.

Good morning everyone...  ooops it is almost afternoon.  Where did the time go?????

I played this morning in my craftroom.  My other half and older step son went out to Powerline Park in St Clairsville OH for their spring open.  So, they loaded up the Can Am Commander side by side and off they went for the day.  Probably the only kid appropriate event at that park.

Anyhow, Here is a card that I made this morning using a technique that I learned on Stamp Nation called double stencil technique.  The video is a little longer because I didn't do any speeding up of the video.

Mother's Day Card Waxed Paper Emboss Resist Technique

Good morning...

I wanted to share a card that I just finished this morning.  I got my inspiration from a post on Stamp Nation, which I just joined a couple days ago.

I sort of CASED Dawn Turley's Happy Birthday card.  The technique is fairly easy.  She mentioned a YouTube video from GinaK on using waxed paper for an emboss resist technique.  I loved Dawn's card so much that I had to make one too.  Here is the GinaK's YouTube Video .  I followed her instructions.

Then I stamped the sentiment of white daisy card stock and did a dove tail cut to create the banner.
I also used my Zutter Bow It All 2.0 to make the bow.

The Frugal Way to Make Your Own Cling Foam Mounting Sheets for Your Unmounted Wood Block Stamps

Quick Post This Morning.....

Here is a really great way to cut your costs in half on mounting your unmounted wood block stamps onto cling mounting sheets to use with acrylic stamping blocks, Fiskars Stamp Press or your MISTI stamping tool.  I was so excited to come across this idea because I was running out of the EZ Mount Cling Mount Sheets and they are expensive.  I did some research and found this idea of using Fun Foam and Window Cling Sheets.

Vintage Style Gift Tags and MISTI Stamping Tool

Good evening folks....  hope everyone had a good weekend.  Mother Nature has lost her mind.  It was 70 degrees on Christmas Day and snow last night and it is April.  Go figure.  But I didn't let that spoil my weekend.  I got a package yesterday.....  I received the MISTI stamping tool....  The Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented.  This gadget is AWESOME!!!!   I love it.

I have struggled with getting my sentiments straight, incomplete stamping and hard to do mass producing. This new toy of mine corrects all of that and makes layering stamped images a snap.

I will probably do a video using this neat thing.  Well, actually, most of my future card making videos I will probably be using it.

I made some gift tags last night but did not record it.  I wanted to get a feel for the tool before going on film with it.

These are the tags I made last night.  I spent hours watching YouTube videos of reviews and other stampers using it.

What I did with these cuties are first I die cut the tags using my Big Shot and Tim Holtz Tiny Tabs and Tags Big Z die.  Then I took Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Walnut Stain, with the blending tool and colored the tags.  They started out a pale yellow color.

Then came time to use my MISTI.  I used Blossoming Expressions Stamp Set.  It is a layered stamp set that has 3 kinds of flowers and a set of leaves.  These stamps you layer them.  Each flower and leaf has a background layer and a top layer to add more detail.  This is where the Misti came in handy.  I used the same color for both layers.  But the bottom layer was a second generation stamping so that it would be lighter than the top layer.  Did the same for the leaves.

The sentiment came from our I Do stamp set.  This set is geared towards weddings but the Celebrating sentiment can be used for so many other occasions.

The inks used were Sorbet, Pomegranate, and black archival ink.

Art Journal Page Featuring April Stamp of the Month

Happy Weekend Everyone!!!

I have been working on this project for 2 days.  In addition to scrapbooking and making cards, I love to play in my art journals.  It took 2 days because of all of the drying time between layers and household obligations.

Here is a pic of my page.  When I decided to do this page, I wanted to use CTMH new Stamp of the Month for April 2016.  The set is called Life in Pictures.  Instead of doing a scrapbook layout or a card, I wanted to do something different.  So I went for an art journal page.

What I did

  • I started by putting down a nice coat of Gesso to condition the page.  The journal I am using is actually just a sketch book.  With that said, the paper is not real thick to hold up to multi media art.
  • Then I put down some color using Close To My Heart's Watercolor paints.  I used some blues, purple and a green which is not real noticeable.
  • Next, I took it outside and sprayed it with an acrylic sealant to prevent the watercolors from running when I used Modge Podge.   I also sprayed my photo.
  • I used a piece of plastic canvas used in needle point work as a stencil and used Tatterd Angels Gold Glimmer mist to mist a mild pattern on the background to add texture.
  • Matted the picture and glued it down on my page.
  • I took a couple stencils (the bricks and the butterfly) and applied 3D modeling paste to get a raised look.
  • I used some Tim Holtz Distress Inks to color the bricks and touched them up with ShinHan Twin Touch Markers.  The butterfly was colored using a couple of our inks like water color painting...  Cotton Candy and Gypsy.
  • Then I stamped using our black archival ink and our Stamp of the Month Life In Pictures.

Halloween Faux TP Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album

Good morning.

Hope everyone had a happy Easter.  I just wanted to share this mini album that I finished up this past week.  I started it way back before Halloween but didn't get around to finishing it.  But since I have time on my hands as I recover from knee surgery, I am finishing some projects that I started but have yet to complete.

This album is for sale in my Etsy Store

Happy Birthday Card With Partial Die Cutting

Good morning everyone...

I wanted to share this cute card that I made this morning.  It is a Z fold card with a partial die cutting technique that I learned from Jennifer McGuire on YouTube.  I did not record a video of this since it was my first try at it and I did mess it up and had to start again.  I was on the phone and doing this and the first card, I cut one of the flowers on the wrong side of the fold.

Here is what I did

First, I used one of CTMH white daisy card bases.  I lined it up on my desk mat and put a very light pencil line down the middle of the front of the card.

I used one of our Spring Time Wishes thin cut dies (sold out) and layed them half way across my pencil mark.  Taped the die in place.   When I ran it through my Big Shot, I only put the top plate over the right side of the card front.  That gave me a partial cut.

I erased my pencil lines.  I stamped the partial die cuts with the matching stamp set, SpringTime Wishes with our black archival ink. being careful to line up the stamp on the cut. I used clear embossing powder and heat embossed.  This was to insure that when I colored the images, the ink would not run and stay in the lines.

I colored the flowers using Designing With Gelatos Colors Kit- ,  The inside I used a piece of Confetti Wishes (retired) paper from my little sample package of B & T paper that was on a ring.  The sample paper was large enough to avoid the hole and I was able to cut to size.  On top of that I used White Daisy to write a sentiment.  I inked the white paper with Pacifica ink.

The Happy Birthday Sentiment, I stamped 3 times along the outside edge using Just To Say Stamp set from the Cricut Collection.  NOTE:  only available in this stamp set.  Used Pacifica, Thistle and Honey inks.

I felt it needed a little more on the front.  Seemed plain.  I took white sequins from the Coral Reef pack  (discounted right now -  get them while they are still available) and used Pacifica Shinhan Twin Tip Marker (this color is no longer available) and colored the sequins to match the card.  Then used Bitty Sparkles in the centers.

I almost forgot, I took a piece of that Confetti Wishes paper and put it on the inside of the Z fold behind the flowers to cover up an oopsie when I got some ink on that panel.

This is the inside of the card.  And there you have it.  If you are interested in any of the products used, just click the links in my instructions or go to my Close To My Heart Store.

[Video] No Cutting Easy Gift Box

Good Afternoon,

Miracles do happen.  Posting 2 days in a row  LOL!  Hey, I found this fantastic project from a Stampin Up Demonstrator on YouTube.  She did a video on this cute gift box almost 3 years ago. Her YouTube channel is Stamping T.  So, I decided to also do a video to bring it back again.

It is really easy once you make a couple.  In my video below, it was my third attempt.  My second was a flop because I taped in the wrong places.  In the picture above, I used a retired paper pack called Taste of Summer.  It was out for only a month last May.  Close To My Heart had it and a matching stamp set for the month of May 2015 only.  I had bought a couple packs and the stamps.

You will need a 12 x 12 piece of designer paper and a 10 inch long piece for the belly band.  The width can be whatever your heart desires.  I cut mine for both boxes I made at 1 1/2" wide.  You will also need scor-tape and whatever embellishments you want to decorate your box with.

Here are the scoring instructions.  I did put them on the screen in the video but sometimes it is helpful to have them in print as well.

Start off with placing your paper with the outside of the box facing down on your score board.
On one side score at 1 1/2" , 3" and 3 3/4".  Turn paper 180 degrees and repeat
Turn paper 90 degrees and score at 3" and 4 1/2", Turn again 180 degrees and repeat.

I am entering this into the Heart2Heart Retired Challenge.

Here are some of the products I used:

Taste of Summer B & T Paper - Reitred
Scor-Tape

[Video] Happy Birthday Card Using Seaside Paper

Good Morning.

I just uploaded a video of making a birthday card using a retired paper pack which I have a ton of...  Seaside B & T paper pack.  I had gotten the bulk pack last year and it has been sitting in my collection.  I have only used a couple sheets so far.  I wanted to use something from my stash.  I have so much of this paper that if you are interested in any of it, I will sell it for $1 per sheet plus flat rate shipping, no matter how many sheets you want.  Just send me an email.

What I forgot to mention in the video is that I used the Lagoon Ink to ink up the edges of my card pieces.

Products Used:
Seaside Paper Collection (Retired)
Happy Birthday Sentiment (Retired - was the Stamp of the Month April 2015)
1 1/2" Circle Punch
2" Scallop Circle Punch

[Video] Monoprinted or Gelli Printing and Thinking of You CardWood

Good morning everyone!!!!  Wake up and smell the coffee now that the clocks have moved an hour ahead and loosing an hour sleep...  YAWN!!

What have I been up to???  Playing with gelli printing on my homemade gelli plate and an acrylic cutting mat.  I recorded a video of my very first experience in this art form.  I have seen so many artists using this form of printing in art journaling.  I decided I wanted to give it a try.

After the video is a picture of a card that I made using this technique but with inks instead of paints. The inks and stamp sets are from Close To My Heart.

Here is my homemade gelli plate

After recording this, I decided to try using inks while off camera.  Here is a print that I came up with.  The inks didn't work as well because they were fast drying.  You need slower drying ink like pigment ink.  I ended up having to touch up the background and the stamped plants.  I added the sentiment afterwards.

Products that I used were the Close To My Heart Inks
Sapphire Z2648

Canary Z2643
Sunset Z2191
Woodland Romance Stamp Set D1683
Also used The Stamp of the Month for January 2016
