Zentangle Inspired Art Piece

Good morning...

Just a quick post.  I wanted to share with you  what I made yesterday at work.  I colored it with Sharpie and Bic Mark It markers with the exception of the background.  The background was done using my Prismacolor Premiere Colored Pencils and blended using mineral spirits.

This is a free form tangle which means no starting string or border was used.  I just started drawing.

Journey Into The World of Zentangles

Good morning...  

I just wanted to share with you my latest hobby.  I started doing Zentangles a couple years ago but only created a couple pieces.  I never really dove into it.  That has changed recently.

At work, we are in our slow season (work in a call center) and the call volume is down.  In between calls, I needed something to keep boredom at bay.  Yes, I can read books and I have.  But I wanted something more.  Zentangles fit the bill.  It is portable and I can take my pens, paper and Zentangle books with me.  I also take my Prismacolor Premier colored pencils or my Shinhan Touch Duel Tip Alcohol markers.  I don't have to take my coloring tools but makes it more fun.  I am in the process of learning how to shade with the colored pencils which are wax based and my alcohol markers.

I am going through a course book that I got from Amazon called One Tangle A Day ... A 6 Week Course.  In the video below, I share with you some of my progress.  A couple of the pieces were done this past Spring. But most of them were done in the past week.

Zentangles - Second Attempt and Weekly Challenge 191 Betweed

Hello everyone...

I am attempting to do the Zentangle thing again.  The bug bit me.  I did one a couple years ago and never picked it back up.  Now, at work, we are in our slow season (working in a call center) and have some time on my hands in between calls.  We can't really bring in any crafts (crochet, macrame, etc) that I used to do at my desk.  However, we are allowed pens and paper. The next best thing was trying my hand at Zentangles again.

I am an extreme novice.  I have been browsing Pinterest and seeing so many amazing works of art.  I think, "Geeee  I wish I was that good...  I want to do that."  With that said, my attempts are very amateur looking.  But I guess if I keep on trying I will get better.  I am not real happy with my results.  But they are what they are.  I will share them any how.

The first one was done yesterday.  It was my second Zentangle ever.  and the Second one is for a challenge on Diva CTZ web site blog for her weekly challenge.  This week is about Betweed tangle and is the second pic.

on this one I just doodled and added some purplish pink for some color.

This is a bookmark that I made.  I am going to back it with scrapbook paper and laminate it for my mom.  She has never heard of Zentangles and tried to show and explain to her what they are.  I thought I would make something for her. I still have to get the shading down.  I seem to get it too dark where I scribble with the pencil and it does shade but remains too dark in the middle.  Start with small  projects and work my way up to bigger ones.

Discovered The World of Zentangles

Good morning everyone...

I had to share this with you.  I discovered this awesome art form a couple days ago. I think it would make great background papers, note cards, ATC cards, photo mats, or anything else you can think of..  It is called Zentangle® .  Ok, now what is this Zentangle® thing you ask?  It is where you just doddle some lines and fill in the spaces with patterns (in the Zentangle® world they are called "Tangles")  I accidentally found this when I was browsing policy envelope mini's in google images. 

Zentangle® is a registered trademark. The official web site is http://www.zentangle.com .  Check it out.  I am not much of an artist per say but I was able to do this and if I can anyone can. 

Here is my first attempt.  I may use it on a note card of some sort, not sure yet. I have already matted it with black card stock.

This is so much fun and relaxing.  I had a slow day at work yesterday and sat and "tangled".  I think of it as an organized doodle.  Leave a comment and let me know if you have ever heard of Zentangle®
